Our most important maintenance advice:

  • Do not exceed the wear time or your specific method- your hair is not designed to wear these hair extensions for more than a recommended period of time without being removed and refitted.

At Vixen and Blush we offer 4 different types of hair extensions: Micro Rings, Micro Bonds, Tape and Clip In extensions. Each method has a different wear time depending if you opt for a semi permanent or permanent method. Our Micro Rings and Micro Bonds are a permanent method worn for 3 months before being removed and refitted. Tape extensions are more semi-permanent method and last between 6-8 weeks and Clip In extensions are a temporary method which last for many years and can be clipped in and out when you need that extra boost.

  • Do not over-direct your hair extensions. They are fitted facing down so do not pull them up into a high bun or ponytail – this can cause too much tension on your own hair strands.

When styling your hair our golden rule is no high buns or ponytails. You can style your hair into a low ponytail, bun, plait of opt for half up half down look. For more inspiration on how to style your extensions visit our instagram page!

  • Always blow dry your hair and do not leave the connection areas damp or wet for any length of time.

It’s important to always blow dry the top of your extensions and not leave your hair to dry naturally.

  • Use the correct hairbrush, we advise a tangle teezer and do not be afraid to brush your hair but be gentle near the connections and brush over them lightly.

It’s important to use the correct shampoos, conditioners and hair brushes with your hair extensions to ensure they are kept in the best condition.

Sarah Mckenna

Sarah McKenna is the founder of Vixen & Blush and The London Hair Lab. Sarah graduated as a research biochemist in 2005 and started a career within the pharmaceutical industry, before becoming a hair extensions expert. In 2010, Sarah gained insight into the hair extensions industry and could see that clients had a very poor value/quality proposition. At that time, poor-quality hair extensions were available, at prohibitively high prices. Sarah left her initial career and set out on a mission to improve the hair extensions industry in the UK, using her research and development skills.

Spending 3 years securing a high-quality and sustainable supply of human hair, Sarah then developed new products and fitting techniques to allow long-term refits of the same hair. In this way, Sarah was able to offer hair extensions services at a more affordable price to clients, while improving the quality of the service for her clients.

With Vixen & Blush starting in 2012 as a 1 chair salon in London, Sarah quickly grew the business to what it is today, a team of more than 20 hair professionals working together as London’s leading hair extensions specialists.
