Come check out the magic that happens when we’re capturing those perfect hair shots! From the creative styling to the fun vibes on set, we’re giving you an inside look at how we bring our hair transformations to life.

Before the camera starts rolling, we have a clear concept that aligns with our signature style. From showcasing our natural looking extensions, effortless blend and beautiful styling. The goal is to create images that resonate with our salon and show off the skill of our very talented team of specialist hair extension stylists!

All the stylists at Vixen and Blush are trained hairdressers who have decided to specialise in hair extensions. A lot of our team have backgrounds in photo-shoots and celebrity styling, so they are the best in the business!

Our senior stylist Brodie has a lot of experience in session work and even worked alongside celebrity hair stylist Chris Appleton on photoshoots and at fashion shows before she joined the team at Vixen and Blush. Another of our senior stylists Hannah has experience at New York Fashion week and those famous Tresemme ads on TV, she is used to working at the highest aesthetic standards in the industry! A Vixen and Blush shoot is a well-planned day as having hair extensions fitted and removed can be a lengthy process. We ensure all the models are colour matched before the shoot to allow for a seamless fitting process. We mainly used tape and clip in extension during our shoot as they are both express methods that are super easy to fit and remove when you have a time pressure. If you’re looking for a lunch break service, both our tape extensions and clip in appointments are a great option!

The location of our photoshoot was inside our beautiful central London salon and the surrounding area. We are based just minutes from Oxford Street, so we are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding a good backdrop. Our salon is in Rathbone Square which is a peaceful oasis from the hustle of Oxford Street and the perfect location for our stylists to take before and after photos of their hair extension transformations.

We asked our senior stylists what they thought of the shoot day. Brodie comments, “It’s such a fun day to get all the team together, we can all showcase what we can do, we have models come in with all different hair types and colours, so it’s so fun to have all that represented in one.”

Brodie styled our model Micky and went for a “lived in style, done but undone, it looks very natural and not too hight maintenance.” For creating a loose curl brodie advises using a “32mm hair tong,  I like the GHD soft curl, if I wanted it tighter, I would use a 26mm or 28mm”

Our senior stylist Kiera agreed “I really enjoyed it, everyone was in high spirits, it was fun to play around with different hairstyles”

The photoshoot this year was an absolute highlight for our team. Liv our stylists shared, “I really enjoyed the photoshoot this year; we had a lot of new stylists join us, so it was really fun to have that experience with them.” This allowed the stylists to collaborate, learn from each other and create some truly stunning looks.

Liv reflected on the day saying, “I loved my model that I styled! It was so fun to chat and give her some hair advice, and she’d never had such long hair, so it was fun to give someone a new experience.” Introducing some of our models to the excitement of having long, luxurious hair made the day even more rewarding.

Sarah Mckenna

Sarah McKenna is the founder of Vixen & Blush and The London Hair Lab. Sarah graduated as a research biochemist in 2005 and started a career within the pharmaceutical industry, before becoming a hair extensions expert. In 2010, Sarah gained insight into the hair extensions industry and could see that clients had a very poor value/quality proposition. At that time, poor-quality hair extensions were available, at prohibitively high prices. Sarah left her initial career and set out on a mission to improve the hair extensions industry in the UK, using her research and development skills.

Spending 3 years securing a high-quality and sustainable supply of human hair, Sarah then developed new products and fitting techniques to allow long-term refits of the same hair. In this way, Sarah was able to offer hair extensions services at a more affordable price to clients, while improving the quality of the service for her clients.

With Vixen & Blush starting in 2012 as a 1 chair salon in London, Sarah quickly grew the business to what it is today, a team of more than 20 hair professionals working together as London’s leading hair extensions specialists.
