It’s important to choose the right hair extension method for you, this can depend on several things from your hair density to your lifestyle and the look you hope to achieve. We offer free consultations in our central London salon and via Face Time so one of our stylists can have a good look through your hair and talk to you about the different methods we have available.
Having hair extensions for the first time can be a bit daunting and that’s why during our free consultations we fit a test piece in your head which you can wear for as long as you want, usually around a week. We can fit a test piece of Tape, Micro Ring and Micro bond extensions, this gives you the chance to test multiple methods and feel what they are like in your head before you commit to an appointment.
You will be able to wash, dry and style them and find which method is the most comfortable for you.
When you book in for your appointment during application your stylist will ask how your extensions are feeling and allow you to have a good look through your hair to ensure they are comfortable. At this point they can easily make any adjustments and relocate any extensions that don’t feel right.
We would advise sleeping with your hair in a loose ponytail, so your hair extension connections don’t pull. You can always switch to a silk pillowcase while sleeping for extra comfort.
If you follow the correct aftercare and maintenance, you should have no problems with your hair extensions and you won’t get any headaches caused from them.
There are so many ways you can style your hair extensions. Whether you want to rock a signature low ponytail or opt for soft beachy waves that everyone has been asking for in the salon, the opportunities are endless. Not to mention you can curl, straighten, and plait your hair just like you did before extensions, but you will find the style holds for a lot longer as we use the best quality hair from The London Hair Lab. This means less styling time but more good hair days!
Whilst experimenting with your new voluminous locks we would advise you to avoid up-do’s as how you style your hair is important to ensure you don’t pull on connections. We would also recommend using a tangle teaser brush to keep your extensions looking their best!
You will quickly find having hair extensions isn’t that different to looking after your hair as you did before. You could always dip your toe into the world of extensions with a set of clip in extensions to add volume and length in an instant. If you want to opt for something more semi-permanent, then you could try our tape extensions that last for 6-8 weeks or for a permanent method look towards Micro Rings and Micro Bond that last for 3 months. All the extension methods at Vixen and Blush are comfortable, super discreet and don’t cause any damage to your natural hair.
