Natural hair extensions

As one of the leading hair extension specialist salons we love to create natural results whilst caring for your own hair.

We offer multiple methods in our central London salon but one method that has become very popular over the last few years is tape extensions.

Tape extensions are a popular choice as they are a semi-permanent method which lasts for 6-8 weeks and then can be re-fitted. They create a super discreet and seamless look and it’s a quick service. You don’t have to block out hours of your day to be in the salon and with the beauty of working remotely you can even work as you have your extensions fitted, the ultimate multi-tasking.

When it comes to fitting and removals it’s always best to go to a hair extension specialist salon to ensure your tape extensions are placed safely and removed with care.

Removing tape hair extensions

Your stylist will make sure they have all the necessary tools, extension remover solution, a tail comb and a towel or cape to ensure you don’t get any solution on your clothing.

The stylist will then section your hair and apply the remover in small amounts and gently massage the solution into the tapes. They will then slowly separate the tapes and use a comb to carefully brush your hair and any residue. They will work gently to avoid pulling on your hair and repeat for each section.

Replacing tape extensions

If you are re-fitting your tape extensions the stylist will have taken them out in a specific order to ensure they go back in the same place. They will then use fresh tape tabs and attach these to your extensions, they will then be ready to be re-fitted.

If you are getting new tape extensions your stylists will discuss your desired look and colour match your hair. New extensions can then be applied, blended, cut and styled.

Your stylist will blend your natural hair with the extensions and style your hair as desired.

Maintenance and aftercare

Ensure the correct maintenance and aftercare is followed to maximize the lifespan of your extensions. You will be given all the aftercare advice you need at your appointment and can ask any questions you have about the maintenance of tape extensions.

Tips for a safe removal and fitting of tape extensions

Always go to a specialist salon and have a professional fit and remove your tape extensions.

Avoid attempting to remove or replace your tape extensions at home as this can cause damage and lead to bad results.

Make sure you follow the correct aftercare advice and don’t go over the wear-time of 6-8 weeks. Ensure you use the correct shampoos and conditioners to maintain the health and longevity of your extensions.

By following the expert advice provided and consulting with a professional stylist you will enjoy a seamless blend and natural- looking tape extensions without compromising the health of your natural hair.

Sarah Mckenna

Sarah McKenna is the founder of Vixen & Blush and The London Hair Lab. Sarah graduated as a research biochemist in 2005 and started a career within the pharmaceutical industry, before becoming a hair extensions expert. In 2010, Sarah gained insight into the hair extensions industry and could see that clients had a very poor value/quality proposition. At that time, poor-quality hair extensions were available, at prohibitively high prices. Sarah left her initial career and set out on a mission to improve the hair extensions industry in the UK, using her research and development skills.

Spending 3 years securing a high-quality and sustainable supply of human hair, Sarah then developed new products and fitting techniques to allow long-term refits of the same hair. In this way, Sarah was able to offer hair extensions services at a more affordable price to clients, while improving the quality of the service for her clients.

With Vixen & Blush starting in 2012 as a 1 chair salon in London, Sarah quickly grew the business to what it is today, a team of more than 20 hair professionals working together as London’s leading hair extensions specialists.
