What Is The Difference Between Micro Rings and Bonds?

At Vixen & Blush we offer both Micro Rings & Micro Bonds, they are both permanent extension methods but what's the difference?
Natural Hair Extensions

At a Glance

Micro Rings and Micro Bonds are both permanent hair extension methods that last up to 3 months. The key difference: Micro Rings are reusable and attach without heat or glue, making them ideal for normal to dense hair. Micro Bonds use a keratin bond and low heat, are not reusable, and work best for finer hair types.

Micro Rings and Micro Bonds are both permanent methods, but what’s the difference?

Whether you’re new to extensions or looking to switch up the method you use, it’s good to know what’s available to you. One of the main questions we get asked in the salon is what’s the difference between Micro Ring hair extensions and Micro Bond hair extensions. They are both permanent methods, the main difference is that Micro Rings can be re-used, and Micro Bonds require new hair each fitting. At Vixen & Blush all our methods are made using the finest hair from The London Hair Lab!

Micro Bonds

Micro Bonds are a permanent method that uses keratin resin to fit strands of hair by moulding small bonds by hand alongside carefully controlled sections.
Micro Bonds are a very versatile method as our stylists can make tiny bonds where needed and offer something more for clients who need a discreet method of adding hair.
The main difference with Micro Bonds is that the hair can’t be reused, so new hair is needed each time. Micro Bonds are a permanent method and will last for 3 months.

Sarah Mckenna

Sarah McKenna is the founder of Vixen & Blush and The London Hair Lab. Sarah graduated as a research biochemist in 2005 and started a career within the pharmaceutical industry, before becoming a hair extensions expert. In 2010, Sarah gained insight into the hair extensions industry and could see that clients had a very poor value/quality proposition. At that time, poor-quality hair extensions were available, at prohibitively high prices. Sarah left her initial career and set out on a mission to improve the hair extensions industry in the UK, using her research and development skills.

Spending 3 years securing a high-quality and sustainable supply of human hair, Sarah then developed new products and fitting techniques to allow long-term refits of the same hair. In this way, Sarah was able to offer hair extensions services at a more affordable price to clients, while improving the quality of the service for her clients.

With Vixen & Blush starting in 2012 as a 1 chair salon in London, Sarah quickly grew the business to what it is today, a team of more than 20 hair professionals working together as London’s leading hair extensions specialists.
