Who is FeatherLight + FeatherLight Ultra™ for?

Featherlight and FeatherLight Ultra are a new service for clients who

  • have always had fine hair and do not want to wear other methods of hair extensions, or were told they were not suitable
  • have hair thinning due to pregnancy, medications, stress, menopausal hormone changes, nutrient deficiencies, thyroid dysfunction
  • have a hair type that is naturally ultra fine and brittle
  • have specific areas of concern, such as the temples, or crown with other areas unaffected
Micro Bond Hair Extensions
FeatherLight: COMBINING 2 or 3 METHODS

For women with fine hair

For fine hair, we combine two or three lightweight methods—single-sided tape hair extensions and BabyBonds—to enhance volume with the addition of V light hair extensions at the front if desired.

Single-sided tape extensions are half the size of standard tapes and feel very lightweight to wear.  They provide a curtain coverage-like volume affect which is great to place at the back of the head, while BabyBonds, at one-third the size of traditional bonds, can then be added around the sides.

This technique creates a seamless, volumised look with soft movement and lasts 8 weeks of weartime, before a refit is required.

Alternatively, for those who want slightly more hair added, or do not want to have any tape hair fitted, we can combine micro bonds with BabyBonds where needed.

And finally, for any clients who have an issue with a thinning or receding hairline, weak sides, visible scalp or areas of regrowth at the temples, we can add a third method (called V Light) in a targetted way to build up the sides and create a more balanced result.

A Treatment Plan is used to tailor the amount and specific combination of hair added until we find the perfect fit for you, while also using imagery at each visit to monitor your own hair health continuously.

FeatherLight Ultra : COMBINING 2 or 3 METHODS

For women with ultra fine hair

For ultra-fine hair, we combine 2 or 3 techniques—single-sided tape extensions, BabyBonds, and V light extensions — to create natural volume from root to tip. Single-sided tape and BabyBonds add lightweight fullness, while the V light method blends delicate strands to reduce the appearance of a visible scalp or receding hairline.

This seamless, undetectable method lasts around 5-7 weeks of weartime.

We create a Treatment Plan for our clients in order to establish which method is the most comfortable and wearable, providing many opportunities for adjustments and fine-tuning to achieve the optimum result. We will continuously monitor your own hair health to ensure you are able to feel confident in our service at all times.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Still Have Questions?

What we get asked about micro bonds..
Can I still get my hair dyed while wearing this method?

Yes, it is totally fine to dye the roots of your own hair while wearing hair extensions.

We advise that you apply the dye to the halo section of your hair, where there are no hair extensions, and avoid painting on the dye directly on top of the bonds.

For anyone who is concerned about the underneath not being dyed as regularly, we recommend pairing an appointment for colour with your removal/refit so that the underneath part does get refreshed once every 3 months.

For other clients who are not trying to cover grey or don't have colour applied to their roots regularly, allowing the underneath part of the hair to grow out natural is very common.

Does this method use glue - I don't like the sound of that at all....?!?

We have offered hair extensions to clients in London for 10 years now and we get asked this exact question all the time!

We get how scary the idea of glue is.

We don't consider this method the 'glue' method no.

We never ever fit the bond method on anyone who doesn't like the look of it, or has an immediate aversion to the concept of bonds.

However, the bonds are heated and reformed as bonds in your hair and do need to be removed by us (or someone skilled) later with a gel remover.

We are experts in hair extensions and we LOVE this method.  We know what we are doing and we also source the products we use ourselves.

The only way to really show our clients the ins and outs of this method is to fit test pieces - which we offer for free at the consultation.

Will my colleagues, partner and friends know I'm wearing hair extensions?

When deciding to have hair extensions fitted, some clients are a little nervous about that big reveal moment at work, or sometimes even at home with their nearest an dearest.

Not all services make a big enough difference to be instantly recognisable as hair extensions and so sometimes we get feedback that clients get comments like 'oh!, nice haircut' or 'did you get your hair done'.... but not comments like 'oh, look, you got hair extensions'.

The big transformations are very instantly recognised as having additional hair added, but having a discreet amount of hair, expertly placed and then a professional haircut afterwards, can often not be identified as hair extensions, but rather just looks like a healthier version of your own hair.

Pros and Cons of the Micro Bonding method

Pros

  • Suitable for fine hair types
  • Suitable for those lacking density at the root
  • Suitable for clients with more brittle hair texture (such as those with grey hair)
  • The most realistic natural-looking results for clients with challenging hair issues (such as previous bleach damage to the ends)
  • Can add bonds in more mobile areas of the head such as around the ear, the hair near the temples and at the nape of the neck
  • Can add more hair in safely, for those wanting to maximise their results
  • Long-lasting (3 months wear time)

Cons

  • Not a re-usable method
  • Take longer to remove and re-apply than other methods
Can I wear my hair up with this method?

We don't advise you to wear your hair up in high ponytails with any method.

However, the bonds, especially once grown out a little bit, can be very comfortably worn in a loose and low ponytail, or styled into an upstyle for events.

What is the maintenance like - will I have to spend hours in front of the mirror?

This is our most commonly asked question.

We do understand that clients are under time pressure with work - and life in general - and the idea of adding any more time to their morning routine fills them with dread...

But we have good news!

Hair Extensions of course do take longer to blow dry, but once they are dried, you can heat style them and they will hold that style for 3 days easily - without any further time needed.

What is very typical is that clients just wash their hair fewer times each week.  And overall actually spend less time on their hair.

If you heat style, even with basic skills, your hair will look amazing and stay that way for much longer.
